The Christmas Village at Love Park is back for the 2015 season. Get the first look at Philadelphia's winter delight that won Best Outdoor Event by Philly Happening Magazine. Check out new vendors, or returning favorites.
Bring family or friends and jump into the holiday spirit with a cup of hot Gluhwein (mulled wine) or hot chocolate and delicious treats which you can enjoy all winter long. Be part of the crowd that gets the sneak peak into the Village before the official opening.
The vendors and the Christmas Village Team are looking forward to this very first day of the Village - we can't wait!
Nov, 28 2015: The Grand Opening Ceremony with the original Christkind from Nuremberg/Germany
The official grand opening of the Christmas Village will take place on 11/28 and everyone is invited. Meet the Christkind from Nuremberg (Germany) from one of the oldest Christmas Markets in the world. Learn about German holiday customs and how she helps out Santa during his busy season. The opening ceremony with her traditional prologue, which is also spoken annually in Germany, starts at 3 pm.
In addition, the day is filled with live performances from a choir and a marching band, plenty of great food and drink selections and enough holiday cheer for you and your family. And be sure to find the Christkind on her walk around the market for a picture. In Germany, she is the one who delivers the present - so kids, make sure she knows you have been good all year.
Schedule of the day
3:00 Performance Marching Band
3:30 Walking In Christkind with guests
4:00 Christkind recites the traditional prologue with which she will open Christmas Village officially
4:10 Performance by Clearview Regional High School Choir
The Christkind will walk over the market after reciting her prologue. Kids, make sure to take a picture with her and get a hard candy out of her gift basket!
Dec, 5 & 6 2015: German-American Weekend
The Christmas Village is making German heritage an exciting experience this winter. There will be traditional dancing and singing on stage, and various German clubs from all over the area. Bring your dancing shoes and you can even learn some German steps.
Taste authentic German cuisine and beverages like Bratwurst (authentic sausage), hot Gluhwein (wine that will keep you warm), Lebkuchen (gingerbread cookies with a twist), and much more. There will be entertainment all weekend long, so join the festive dinner at Love Park.
Dec, 12 & 13 2015: Charity Weekend
Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Philadelphia and Susquehanna Valley, an organization that we believe is worth supporting, will be back again so the Christmas Village can help raise money. All money donated this weekend will go directly to Make-A-Wish.
In addition, when you purchase a heart at the information booth, $1 goes to Make-A-Wish. Then you can add your wish and hang it on the Wish Wall that will be just around the corner.
Dec 19 & 20 2015: LOVE Weekend
Love Park is taking love to a whole new level this weekend with Christmas Village. Bring your loved ones out to this event to express how much you care about them. There will be an Instagram contest for the best "love-themed" picture, and the winner will get a special prize. So before you come, think of a picture you can take in front of the love sign to showcase your affection - a kiss, a hug. Be creative!
Dec 26 & 27 2015: Homecoming WeekendHome for the holidays embraces the importance of the season. Don't miss out on the Christmas Village's last weekend at Love Park. Extend your celebration one last weekend and enjoy food, drinks, and various vendor booths filled with crafts, ornaments, jewelry and more.
