St. Nikolaus Day

Clean your shoes – we are celebrating Nikolaus Day at Christmas Village in Philadelphia!

St. Nikolaus Day

Are you familiar with old Saint Nikolaus? He plays a major role for German children during Advent time. On the evening of December 5th German kids clean their shoes and put them in front of the door. This may sound a bit weird to you, but we Germans really do that! Some time during the night, Nikolaus will come to fill the children's shoes. The next morning, children who have been nice will find candy and small gifts in their shoes. For the naughty ones he will leave coal behind.

Nikolaus Day is on December 6th and we are going to celebrate this special day in German culture at the market, too. So bring your kids to our boot filling event when St. Nikolaus will fill their boots with sweet treats at no cost. Every boot that is dropped off at the Info Booth on December 6th 2019 between 11:00 am and 3:30 pm will be filled with some treats and returned to the kids at 4:15 pm by St. Nikolaus himself. Later on, the children will have the opportunity to talk to St. Nikolaus and take pictures with him.

We are looking forward to see you there!
