Opening Ceremony

Once again, the original Christkind from Nuremberg will open Christmas Village in Philadelphia with her solemn prologue! Accompanied by the Camden Catholic High School Band and Joshua Bation from the Philadelphia area, she will kick off the Holiday season 2016 at the Village on Sunday, November 27th.

November 26th - schedule of the day:

Official Tree Lighting at Dilworth Plaza

The City's Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration, which kicks off at 4 pm with a 5:30 pm tree lighting, is free and open to the public.

November 27th - Schedule of the official Opening Ceremony day:


Christkind will arrive on horse-drawn carriage by 76 Carriage Co at the north entrance of City Hall.


Christkind gives her traditional prologue out of a big window on the second floor inside City Hall’s courtyard & officially opens the market

After the offical Opening Ceremony the Christkind will walk through the market and give out candies to the small ones - be sure to be there and take a picture with the Christkind and give her your gift wish list!
